Ocoee Upcoming Town Center Modeling After Winter Garden’s

Ocoee’s Big Future Plans

A Central Florida developer has big goals for the city of Ocoee. Developer David Townsend has plans to make a vibrant town center with a mix of residential with retail and office space, giving it more of a city style vibe. The site will be located in a busy section in Ocoee, making it an attractive location for commercial tenants. The hope for Ocoee is to provide shopping and dining options to its 48,000 residents with a proposed City Center at State Road 436 and Orange Blossom Trail. An estimated 50,000 vehicles are said to pass along the busy area per day. The full construction timeline is still under development but is expected to start within the next 12 months. Although Ocoee’s downtown makeover project won’t be finished for the next few years, the project could net Ocoee an estimated $400 million in development.

There will be an abundance of local shopping centers including the West Oaks Mall, Good Homes Plaza, and a Wal-Mart Supercenter. It’s one of the more ambitious projects being proposed in Central Florida, and somewhat similar to Winter Garden.

According to Orlando Sentinel, president of Park Development Corporation, Townsend stated, “It’s a place where the residents of Windermere and Ocoee could go and hang out and, of course, there will be 1,300 to 1,900 condos and apartments,” and “It’s more of a community as opposed to a destination.”

Resemblance to Winter Garden?

Growing Ocoee aspires to reshape its downtown like Winter Garden’s. With an alluring array of restaurants, shops, and west orange biking trail. Less than fifteen miles apart, Ocoee looks to it’s neighbor as a guide. Both cities proximity to Orlando makes them ideal spots for growth. Winter Garden has grown over the years into a commercial and cultural capital in West Orange County. A few amenities located here are the Garden Theatre, several Museums, a Downtown Pavilion which is home to Winter Garden Farmers Market and a recently developed Art Center. Every Saturday morning the city holds one of the top regional Farmers Markets in Central Florida.
